How to choose the right cup for your breast?
Expressing milk must be a pleasant action and the size of the cup greatly affects the type of experience that is had using the breast pump.
To choose the right cup we suggest you take a ruler or tape measure and measure the diameter of your nipple (in mm), going through the center and excluding the areola.
How to check the correct cup size?
- The cup is too small if the nipple rubs along the walls of the duct, becomes red and feels uncomfortable.
- The cup is of the correct size if the nipple remains in the centre, moves freely and does not feel any discomfort when the breast pump is operated.
- The cup is too big if the nipple and areola tissue is drawn into the cup too much and becomes white.
